Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS) runs a flight school and maintenance shop from Hangar 11 at Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport (KTPL) in Temple, Texas. Despite the Alaskan name, this listing is the company’s Temple operation.

Aeroplane training is offered under both FAA Part 141 and Part 61. Students fly Cessna 172s and a Tecnam P2006 twin, working towards the Private Pilot certificate, Instrument Rating, Commercial certificate, multi-engine rating and instructor certificates (CFI, CFII and MEI). G1000 training, flight reviews and instrument proficiency checks are also available.

Helicopter training uses a Robinson R44, covering private, instrument, commercial and instructor certificates plus the SFAR 73 Robinson endorsements. The school’s Professional Aviator Program is a full-time zero-to-CFI route under its Part 141 certificate. Discovery flights are available in an aeroplane or helicopter.
