Brief History
Opened in 1954 on land donated by local ranchers, Sedona Airport grew with the region’s tourism boom. Early fixed-base operator Red Rock Aviation launched biplane tours in the 1980s, now led by Sedona Air Tours and Arizona Helicopter Adventures. The airport gained fame via Top Gun: Maverick filming (2022) and earned Arizona Airport of the Year honors in 2019. City-owned since 1994, it balances GA with high-volume scenic flights (~40,000 ops/year).
