Overview
Located in San Francisco, California, this aviation business provides professional local services. Located in the aviation capital of the world — Wichita, Kansas — Legacy Aircraft Instruments is a premier FAA-certified repair station (Certificate #L63R282Y) specializing in the overhaul, repair, and calibration of classic and legacy aircraft flight instruments. Serving piston, turbine, and warbird operators worldwide, Legacy combines decades of bench-level expertise with NIST-traceable standards to keep vintage panels accurate and airworthy. From steam-gauge restorations to modern glass upgrades and custom ground-support test equipment, they deliver fast turn-times and unmatched quality for everything that flies behind round dials or early electronic displays.
Brief History
Founded in the late 1990s by instrument technicians who cut their teeth on WWII and Cold War-era aircraft, Legacy quickly earned a reputation among warbird restorers and corporate fleet operators for bringing tired gyros and gauges back to “better-than-new” condition. Today, the shop remains independently owned, holding approvals for instrument Classes 1 through 4 (aircraft flight instruments) plus limited accessories, and continues to support everything from Stearmans and DC-3s to King Airs, Citations, and military trainer fleets.
