White Horse Aviation

White Horse Aviation teaches people to fly in West Wiltshire. Its listed base is at Yatesbury, near Calne, and it uses several airfields in the area.

The school trains on the Ikarus C42 and Jabiru microlights and on a Cessna 152, so students can work towards the NPPL microlight rating, the LAPL or the PPL(A). It also offers IMC and instrument rating training, type ratings, flight instructor (FI) courses and aircraft rental for qualified pilots.

Lessons are booked in two-hour slots. Each slot covers a pre-flight briefing, a walk-round inspection of the aircraft, about an hour in the air and a debrief. Early lessons focus on upper air work away from the airfield. Ground school is charged by the hour, and students who study together pay less. Trial flights are available.
