Overview
FlyMe runs flight simulator experiences and aviation learning sessions at Skills Street, an interactive ‘world of work’ learning venue just off junction 31 of the M1 in South Yorkshire. It previously operated from Shortwood Business Park in Birdwell.
The centrepiece is an industry-standard Boeing 737-800 fixed-base simulator. A 45-minute simulator session with an instructor covers take-off and the basics of flight. Longer aviation experiences, from 45 minutes to two and a half hours, are aimed at families and groups. They can include check-in and security, a close look at a Rolls-Royce Spey engine and a cockpit tour inside G-CELG, a Boeing 737-300 fuselage section.
For schools, the Skills Street Airport Experience offers 45-minute sessions on careers in aviation, travel and tourism across all key stages. Colleges and training providers can book sessions for learners on travel, tourism, cabin crew and airline management courses, with landing challenges, life raft training and first aid activities. Instruction is given by a CAA-approved flight instructor.
FlyMe also lists airline interview and simulator assessment preparation, annual membership and meeting room hire. Bookings are made through the Skills Street website.
