Overview
Leading Edge Aircraft Engineering is a light aircraft maintenance and airworthiness business. It works from the base of its sister company, Leading Edge Flight Training, on Walkinshaw Road in Renfrew, near Glasgow.
The business was formed in 2021 to give the flying school local engineering support under a contracted maintenance organisation’s approval. In late 2022 the company applied to the CAA for its own Part CAO approval, so that it could control its own continuing airworthiness management and engineering. The website says the CAA visited in January 2023 and recommended approval.
Services include management of aircraft documents and maintenance programmes, covering scheduled tasks, Airworthiness Directives and life-limited components, with regular aircraft status reports. The team offers on-site engineering, overnight maintenance, weekend availability and an on-site parts store. Its website also hosts reference material on Cessna and Piper airframes and Lycoming engines.
Published rates include fixed-price servicing for single-engine piston aircraft. For a fixed-undercarriage type, a 50-hour check is £640 and an annual inspection £3,200; retractable types cost more. Continuing airworthiness management costs £750 a year or £75 a month, with ARC issue and renewal included and CAA fees recharged at cost. Hourly rates are £80 for engineering and painting and £90 for avionics, all plus VAT.
