Overview
SkyLearner Aviation runs a guided online pilot ground school and is a UK CAA approved training organisation. Its listed office is on Adelaide Street in Belfast. It teaches the theory for the PPL, the Instrument Rating, the CPL and the ATPL. All four courses are taught in the same guided way, so students can study for their first licence with SkyLearner and stay with it through to the ATPL.
Before a student starts, SkyLearner builds a timetable around the hours they have each week. Lessons are written by active pilots and include animations, CAA-style practice questions with video walkthroughs, and progress tests. Instructors hold progress chats by phone or WhatsApp, and there is a helpdesk for anything that will not click. If a student fails an exam, an instructor debriefs them before the retake.
The PPL theory course covers all nine UK CAA PPL subjects with no add-ons. It includes over 2,000 practice questions and more than 250 hours of learning, and starts from £29 a month. Instrument Rating theory covers seven subjects, with monthly start dates.
SkyLearner reports an 89% first-time pass rate and says it has trained 780 students over seven years. The courses suit students who want to fit theory study around flight training at a school of their choice. A call can be booked through the website.
