East Coast Gyrocopters

East Coast Gyrocopters runs gyrocopter trial flights and pilot training from Rufforth Airfield West, near York.

Trial flights use enclosed-cockpit Cavalon gyrocopters. There are short 10-minute flights and hands-on flights of 30 or 60 minutes, each with a briefing before take-off. They are popular as gifts and with people thinking about learning to fly. Flights cover York, Wetherby, Scarborough and the surrounding area.

For students, the school teaches on factory-built two-seat dual-control gyrocopters following the UK CAA syllabus towards a gyroplane licence. Ground school covers aviation theory, air law and the particular flight characteristics of gyroplanes, supported by video learning.
