Overview
Lydd Aero Club is a flying school at Lydd Airport on Romney Marsh, on the Kent coast. It operates as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO).
Students train on Piper PA-28 Cherokees for the PPL, with the NPPL also available. Ground school, cross-country navigation and multi-engine (MEP) training are on offer. The club says the open airspace around Lydd, up to 5,500 ft, lets students spend more of each lesson training and less time transiting. The airport’s 1,500 m runway and full facilities give practice in a commercial airport setting.
Trial lessons and first-flight experiences are available for newcomers who want to try flying before signing up.
