Summit Aviation

Summit Aviation is a jet engine maintenance, repair and overhaul company on Merlin Way at Manston, near Ramsgate in Kent. Its purpose-built facility there covers 100,000 square feet. The company specialises in the Pratt & Whitney JT8D and the CFM56-3 engines.

Engine balancing is a speciality. All rotating components are statically balanced before assembly, and all module assemblies are dynamically balanced during the engine build, using Schenck static and dynamic balancing machines.

Since 2003 Summit has owned and operated its own CAA Part 145 and FAA approved engine test cell at Gloucestershire Airport (Staverton), between Gloucester and Cheltenham.

Where work has to be done on wing, its engineers provide field service support anywhere in the world under CAA Part 145 approval UK.145.00576. Technical assistance is also available at a customer’s base. Summit sells and leases engines too, and says buyers can be confident they have been maintained by certified engineers overseen by its quality department.
