ICE Helicopters

ICE Helicopters is a helicopter flight training and tour company at the Elstree Aviation Centre on Hogg Lane, Elstree Aerodrome, near Borehamwood in Hertfordshire. The aerodrome is easy to reach from London, Essex and Hertfordshire.

Its fleet includes Robinson R22, R44 and R66 helicopters and an Airbus H120, used for training, private hire and sightseeing tours. Its instructors have flown several helicopter types for operators around the world, and training is tailored to each student’s goals.

Courses include the Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (Helicopters), a UK qualification with lighter medical and training requirements than the PPL(H). It allows the holder to carry up to three passengers in helicopters up to 2,000 kg. Qualified pilots can then self-fly hire ICE aircraft.

The ICE.co.uk Group also runs FBO and handling services at the Elstree Aviation Centre. Its 6,000 sq ft private hangar includes a VIP lounge and a pilot rest area, and bookings can be made online.

Recent news includes a management buyout of ICE Helicopters and new R44 Cadets joining the fleet. The centre is open from 09:00 to 17:00, seven days a week.
