Overview
The Derbyshire & Lancashire Gliding Club flies from Camphill, on the edge of an escarpment above Bradwell and Great Hucklow in the Peak District National Park. People have been learning to glide at Camphill since the club opened in 1935, and the club has been based there for nearly 90 years.
The club trains new pilots from their first flight to solo and on to cross-country soaring. Visitors can book gliding courses, including week-long residential courses that combine flights with simulator time. The club’s flight simulator is also used for theory and practice when the weather stops flying.
Membership is open to beginners and experienced glider pilots, and the club welcomes new members who want to take up gliding.
