Helisika Helicopters is a specialist agricultural and commercial helicopter operator based at Ardmore Airport in Auckland, serving the Waikato, Coromandel, Auckland and Northland regions. Helisika Agricultural Limited was incorporated in Auckland in 1995 by Greg Gribble, who was previously part of the group that founded Helisika Taupo in 1987.The company began with a Hughes 300 operating from a grass pad and soon moved to Ardmore Airport. It now operates two aircraft from a much larger hangar at Ardmore, with a third at Dargaville Aerodrome operating as its northern sister branch, Helinorth Helicopters, which specialises in agricultural spraying and fertiliser spreading for Northland farmers and growers. Over the years the company has flown R44s, the R66 and Hughes 500s, and today it flies Squirrels for their versatility, including the AS350 B3e.Agricultural services include aerial spraying, aerial topdressing and forestry work. Commercial services cover precision lifting, gravelling and concreting, firefighting, human sling operations, aerial surveys, heli grappling and charter. Its helicopters carry specialist lifting equipment for heavy loads such as construction material, timber, concrete and metal on hard-to-reach and remote sites.The team’s pilots and crew have more than 30,000 combined flight hours.
