With hundreds of islands spread across the ocean, the Bahamas is a place where small aircraft are part of everyday life. The main gateways are Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau and Grand Bahama Airport in Freeport, but most of the airports listed here are on the Family Islands, where a short runway is often the quickest way in and out.

Planning a flight to the Bahamas
- Check the rules before you go. Customs, immigration and permit requirements for private aircraft can change, so check the latest guidance from the Bahamas Civil Aviation Authority and your own country’s authorities.
- Plan to clear in at an airport of entry. Not every Family Island airport can process arriving international flights, so check which ones can before you plan your route.
- Check fuel and opening hours. Smaller airports may have limited fuel, services or opening times, so call ahead or contact the operator.
- Be ready for long stretches over water. Make sure you have the right survival equipment and a plan for the weather, especially during the hurricane season.
