Brief History
Opened in 1971 as a reliever to Sky Harbor, DVT rapidly grew into a training powerhouse. Embry-Riddle launched its Phoenix campus here in 1990; ATP opened a major center in 2015. The 2020s brought Cutter Aviation’s $20M FBO expansion and MD Helicopters MRO. Named Arizona Airport of the Year in 2021 and 2025 for innovation and sustainability (solar-powered hangars). A key player in FAA’s NextGen testing.
