Nestled in the rolling Hampshire countryside at 325 ft elevation, just 5 miles west of Andover and 6 miles north of the M3 motorway—providing easy access to London (60 miles) and Southampton (20 miles)—Thruxton Airfield (EGDM) is a vibrant UK general aviation airfield blending aviation with motorsport heritage. As the UK’s premier circuit training hub with 350+ flying days annually, it features three runways for piston singles, microlights, and gliders, ideal for pilots seeking affordable circuits, PPL training, and scenic VFR flights over the Test Valley—perfect for southern England aviators pairing touch-and-goes with Silverstone-style thrills or Winchester Cathedral visits.

Brief History
Constructed in 1942 as RAF Thruxton—a WWII bomber station for Stirling and Lancaster squadrons supporting D-Day ops—the airfield transitioned to civilian use in 1946 under the Hampshire Aeroplane Club. By the 1960s, it became a motorsport venue with the Thruxton Circuit (Britain’s fastest), leading to dual-use ops. Today, as a BGA-licensed site, it hosts 50,000+ movements yearly, preserving its wartime legacy while expanding GA facilities amid Hampshire’s aviation boom.
